starting out

We've just set this blog up to try and keep in touch with the folks back home whilst on our Peking to Paris rally.  We attempted this rally back in 2007 when we failed dismally, breaking down in the Gobi desert, and having to be trucked 850 km back to Ulaanbataar for vital repairs.  We then had to drive due north out of Mongolia and due west through Siberia to catch the rally up in Moscow 2 weeks later, a real adventure in itself.  This year, our aim is to stick with the rally.  If you wish, you can follow us on our journey along the old silk route through China, Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekhistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy and France.  We are aiming to keep up-to-date on this blog site and/or on our twitter page - joanddavep2p.  For a more professional up-date on the whole rally, follow our progress on the organiser's website http://www.pekingparis.com/ or see where exactly we are on http://www.skytag-gps.co.uk/, and we are car # 88.  Looking forward to starting the rally, and hopefully, receiving your comments along the way, best wishes DnJ
